Since the 19th century, the Wellington boot, commonly known as wellies, is one of the most popular outdoor footwear. Traditional wellies
The first Wellington boot was designed for the Duke of Wellington. Hunter wellies
The rubber wellies created by North British Rubber Company were christened Hunter boot or Hunter wellies. The boots were primarily created as outdoor footwear. The hunter boots were highly popular among soldiers during the two world wars. After the end of the Second World War, hunter wellies become the ideal wet weather footwear. The design of the boots has undergone significant change. They became highly comfortable footwear, with thick sole. The footwear that was originally designed for men evolved into footwear for women and children.

Green wellies
Green wellies was introduced by the creators of hunter boots in 1955. Despite the difference in names, the green wellies shares similar features with the earlier hunter boots. The rubber boots were renamed to increase their popularity among country folks. It helped to add a rustic charm to the traditional rubber wellies.
